    about

OnenessButoh  is a collective of performing artists from the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area.  Our purpose is to bring new awareness to Japanese Butoh as an alternative dance expression through performances and workshops.

In the fall of 2013, we began working together, under the direction and guidance of Butoh solo performing artist, Judith Kajiwara.  Each member brings to OnenessButoh a treasure chest of life experiences.  Together we continue to build a foundation based on trust, sharing, and unity.  We are currently developing a repertoire of works that deepen and empower the heart and mind in support of a rapidly changing world.

"Oneness" implies the dancer's journey to reclaim her/his true self, a place of transparency as seen by the internal eye, rather than the physical.  This is where the power of Butoh crosses over the realm of the physical into the realm of the non-physical, becoming a true reflection of Oneness with Self, and with all of Life and Beyond.  It is here that tears silently fall, and the potential for healing is activated.  It is from this higher place that Butoh must continue to be seen and felt both personally and globally.  OnenessButoh holds a space for the awakening of higher consciousness through a dance form that is eerily abstract, yet alive with human emotion and compassion.
